The World Shoot happens this year (the “Olympics” of Practical Shooting), and we’re doing our part to support the American squad. We’re a small firm, but when U.S. Production Team member JJ Racaza told us about changes he’d like on the basepads for his Caracal 9mm — we promised to help.
JJ showed us how the Caracal’s basepad is steeply angled, and somewhat slippery. If you aren’t holding on tight, the mag can slip out of your hand when it hits the pistol during a speed reload.
We’ve made a Caracal basepad similar to our Drop-Away basepad for the Glock — wedge-shaped to eliminate the angle, solid aluminum to add weight, and textured so it doesn’t slip.
At one ounce total, the “JJ” is legal for all the major games. They’re getting ceramacoated now, and will be available shortly.
The first half-dozen (colored “Caracal orange” for the World Shoot) go to JJ the minute they arrive. He’s got his hands full training to beat the amazing Eric Grauffel (of France), and we wish him the best. — GO TEAM USA!
